Turn Your Bedroom Into A Stress-Free Zone

Posted on

If you're like most people, your days can get busy and stressful as you make your way through the week. Luckily, by making a few easy updates to your bedroom, you can turn it into a stress-free zone that's enjoyable to spend time in at the end of a long day. Here are three updates that shouldn't be overlooked during the update process:

Paint the Walls

Because colors tend to have an effect on mood and emotions, an excellent way to create a stress-free atmosphere in your bedroom is to paint the walls. Painting walls blue can help keep your blood pressure levels low and create a calming atmosphere. Other color options that may meet your needs and preferences include:

  • Green – it's restful on the eye and offers a refreshing quality.

  • Yellow – this sunny color invokes joy and happiness when exposed to it.

  • Purple – it offers a dramatic and luxurious look that complements softer colors.

In addition to painting the walls, you can add extra color to your space by putting throw pillows on the bed, laying tapestries over the tables, and embellishing wooden furniture with tinted stain.

Incorporate Some Plants

Incorporating a few houseplants into your bedroom will brighten things up, help purify the air, and create a relaxing environment that makes it easy to get rid of stress. All houseplants offer their own unique benefit – consider one or more of the following options:

  • Aloe Vera – helps get rid of pollutants and chemicals from the air, and the gel can be used to soothe cuts and burns.

  • English Ivy – offers excellent protection from formaldehyde exposure.

  • Bamboo Palm – filters benzene from the air and does well in areas with shade or indirect sunlight.

To optimize the stress reduction and air filtration effects of your plants, introduce two or three different varieties into your space.

Implement a Water Fountain

There are a variety of ways an indoor water fountain can help you reduce stress when you're relaxing nearby. An indoor water fountain in your bedroom will provide you with soothing sounds as you relax and read a book or lay down to take a nap. Your water fountain will also humidify the space so it's easier to breathe, as well as release negative ions into the environment that will help reduce stress and fatigue. Place a small fountain on your dresser or put a floor model in a corner near a cozy chair where you can put your feet up and enjoy the water flow.

These decorating ideas should help you create the ultimate stress-free zone that makes it easy to revitalize your body and mind whenever you have some downtime.
